Japan
Japan's SDR position has grown dramatically alongside its post-war economic transformation. Japan was the second-largest IMF quota holder for decades before China overtook it. The Japanese yen remains a component of the SDR basket. Japan is a major IMF creditor and frequently contributes to IMF lending arrangements, keeping its holdings slightly above allocation.
