Indonesia
Indonesia joined the IMF in 1954 and experienced a defining crisis in 1997-98 during the Asian Financial Crisis, when it received a $43 billion IMF package (the largest to any single country at the time). The IMF's structural adjustment conditions sparked political unrest and contributed to the fall of President Suharto. Indonesia repaid all IMF loans by 2006 and has since become a creditor nation and active G20 member advocating for emerging market interests in IMF reform.
